Luxurious chalets and gourmet restaurants
Courchevel ski resorts is scattered between five satellite villages, named after their altitudes. The most famous village is called Courchevel 1850. This is the highest village, and the heart of the ski resort. Other 4 villages are Courchevel1650, 1550, Le Praz and the newly born La Tania.
The world famous ski resort is known as the Saint Tropez of winter sports.
It is the home of a select clientele of VIPs but also wealthy skiers, royal european countries families and Princes from the Middle East. To offer the best service to its prestigious visitors, the mountain city counts dozens of private luxurious chalets, 5 stars hotels, palaces (6th star ranking hotel) and fine dinning restaurants recommended by the Michelin guide.

The resort is split between five villages, all interconnected by road and free shuttle transportation.
A bit of History
Courchevel is the first ski resort in France to be constructed from scratch rather than around an existing village. In the early 1940’s, the first ski holidayers came from Paris and Lyon. They were all skiing experts. The road to access the resort were quite then adventure in winter at the time. Saint-Bon-Tarentaise was home of the first hotel, located below the lowest of the five villages.
Le Praz hosted the ski jumping competition during the Winter Olympics in 1992. Young athetes still train on the jump nowadays.
